Kamloops educator suspended for failing to report disclosed sexual assault, presenting unverified information to class
KAMLOOPS — A recently retired Kamloops educator was disciplined after a pair of separate transgressions in 2023.
According to a consent resolution agreement released Tuesday (May 12) by the British Columbia Commissioner for Teacher Regulation, Cinderella June Winter received a five-day suspension from May 4 to 8, 2026. Winter retired from School District 73 (SD73) on March 22, 2025.
While working as a counsellor at a secondary school in SD73, Winter failed to report a sexual assault a student disclosed to her on Jan. 6, 2023, to a school administrator or the student’s parents. The agreement says Winter incorrectly assumed the sexual assault in question had been reported and dealt with in the past, and she didn’t ask the student about the incident or confirm it had been reported.
The agreement notes SD73 issued Winter a letter of discipline a month later, and the counsellor offered to meet with the student and their family in a restitution circle.
