Average cost of Kamloops rentals declines for two bedroom units, rises for one bedroom

KAMLOOPS — The average cost of renting a two-bedroom unit in Kamloops has declined slightly in the last year, while one-bedroom units have become more expensive.

According to Rentals.ca, the cost to rent a one-bedroom unit has risen by 3.5 per cent since April 2025, with an average cost of $1,837 per month.

Meanwhile, two-bedroom units have dropped in price by 3.3 per cent, averaging $2,103 per month.

In B.C. as a whole, the average cost of a one-bedroom unit was $2,061 and $2,614 for a two-bedroom unit, marking a sic per cent and five per cent decline respectively.

According to Rentals.ca, their data shows Kamloops as the 28th most expensive city to find a long-term rental home in Canada, costing $2,064 per month.

Meanwhile, North Vancouver has an average monthly rental cost of $3,001, placing it as Canada’s most expensive city to rent in Rentals.ca’s ranking for April 2026.

Data from the website shows that rent costs have slightly declined in the last two years nation-wide, but are still significantly higher than they were six years ago.

“Average asking rents for all property types in Canada fell 4.7 per cent annually to $2,027 in April, marking the 19th consecutive year-over-year decline, but up 0.9 per cent from the three-year low of $2,008 set in March,” said reporting from Rentals.ca.

“Over the past two years, rents have fallen by 7.4% from April 2024, but were 1.2% higher than three years ago in April 2023. Compared to the COVID-era low in April 2021, average rents have risen 21.9%.”
