Golden Globes Establishes New AI Guidelines For 2026 Awards Season

May 8, 2026 | 6:33 AM

The Golden Globes has announced new artificial intelligence rules for its 2026 awards season. AI use does not automatically disqualify films or shows, provided “human creative direction, artistic judgment, and authorship remain primary throughout the production process.” For acting categories, performances must be “primarily derived from the work of the credited performer” and cannot be “substantially generated or created by artificial intelligence.” Unauthorized use of performers’ digital likeness, voice replication, or biometric data will result in ineligibility. Non-performance categories require core creative contributions to “originate primarily from credited human individuals.” The awards ceremony airs live January 10th on CBS and Paramount+, with Nikki Glazer returning as host. Nominations will be announced December 7th. (Story URL)
