Kamloops Labour Council to recognize National Day of Mourning at Tuesday ceremony
KAMLOOPS — Tuesday (April 28) is set to be recognized across Canada as the National Day of Mourning. The event held yearly on April 28 is to honour workers who have lost their lives, been injured or suffered illness due to workplace incidents.
The day will be marked with ceremonies across Canada, from the B.C. Legislature to Parliament Hill in Ottawa. Here in Kamloops, the Day of Mourning will be observed at Sandman Centre’s Kia Lounge.
Last year, British Columbia saw 138 workplace fatalities. While that does represent a decrease from 2024, the number is still much too high and potentially under-reported.
