Kamloops COTW to consider Fulton Field tax exemption options
KAMLOOPS — Kamloops’ Committee of the Whole (COTW) will discuss options for a proposed plan to expand the city’s Revitalization Tax Exemption to include lands around the airport on Tuesday (Apr 28).
The plan, initially proposed by Councillors Bill Sarai, Katie Neustaeter and Stephen Karpuk, aims to spur development at Fulton Field.
The city will still collect taxes from the lots, as the breaks will only apply to the increased value of improvements to developed land.
“We’re still going to be collecting taxes on the basic raw lands but its the improvements that they’ll get a break on,” said Sarai, the chair of the Kamloops Airport Authority Society, to CFJC Today.
