Kamloops Farmers’ Market Society preparing for 2026 outdoor season

KAMLOOPS — (UPDATE April 17): Final preparations are underway for the 2026 outdoor season of the Kamloops Farmers’ Market, which starts next Saturday, April 18.

The Saturday Farmers’ Market runs between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. in the 200 block of St Paul Street downtown and the Stuart Wood schoolyard. It’ll be held every Saturday until Oct. 31.

About 100 vendors – if not more – are expected to be a part of this year’s market, but Market Manager Greg Unger says they’ll be easing into the season.

“Don’t expect much in the way of veggies yet,” Unger told CFJC Today. “Farmers are still planting a lot of their things. You might see some leafy greens, you might see some cold cellar veggies like potatoes, carrots, that sort of thing from last season.”

“What you can expect to see at our first market of the season are a lot of bedding plants and seeds, so to all the gardeners out there, this is a great time to get your supplies ready.”

Other favourites like food and drink vendors as well as artisans and crafters will also be returning.

“All products are made, baked or grown by our vendors within B.C., the majority within a 100 km radius of Kamloops,” a statement from the Kamloops Farmers’ Market Society said.

“To help kick off the season and to celebrate World Heritage Day [April 18], the Kamloops Museum and Archives and the Kamloops Art Gallery are offering a free activity at the Museum of colourizing food and agricultural themed historic photos.”

The bike valet will also be returning for the Saturday market this year. It’s the third year for the program in Kamloops, and the second year with a dedicated offering for the Saturday Farmers’ Market, and Unger is encouraging people to take advantage of it.

“We’re super pleased with how well its been its been taking off. People are certainly using it,” Unger added.

“I know there is a lot of construction downtown right now so consider coming by bike, e-bike. There’s that new company that has those blue e-scooters – active transport its a great way to get around all the downtown construction right now.”

The Wednesday market will begin on May 6, and run 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the 400 block of Victoria Street until Oct. 28. The weekday market will be held on the sidewalk in front of the TNRD building for the first few weeks before moving onto the street in mid-to-late June.
