Barnhartvale Landfill to remain closed Saturday following fire

KAMLOOPS — The city of Kamloops has announced that the Barnhartvale Landfill and Yard Waste Site will remain closed on Saturday (April 11) following a fire Friday night.

“Kamloops Fire Rescue is on site attending to the fire and will remain on scene overnight (Friday),” reads the press release.

The notice from the city states that an update will be shared later on Saturday afternoon.

Kamloops Fire Rescue responded from multiple stations in the city to handle the fire, which appeared to be based in a pile of logs or wood debris.
