Lil Nas X Enters Mental Health Program, Battery Case Could Be Dismissed Category Icon
Lil Nas X (born Montero Hill) was granted entry into a mental health diversion program Monday for his August police battery case. Judge Alan Schneider found the incident was “aberrant from his normal conduct” and linked to Hill’s bipolar disorder diagnosis. If Hill complies with treatment and follows all laws for two years, charges will be dismissed. “When treated, he is much better off, and society is much better off,” the judge said. Hill was arrested August 21st after walking in traffic wearing only underwear and cowboy boots, allegedly battering three officers during arrest. He faced up to 5 years in prison on felony charges. Hill voluntarily entered Arizona’s Meadows treatment facility for nearly two months after his arrest. He now follows a “rigorous mental health regimen” including weekly therapy sessions. “I’m thankful. Just very thankful,” Hill said outside court. “It could have been much worse.”
