SALMON ARM, B.C. — RCMP in Salmon Arm are reminding the public that replica guns can result in criminal charges and seizure.

The alert in a news release issued Monday (April 6) comes after someone called police to report a man in possession of a handgun near the Salvation Army Lighthouse on Feb. 13.

Salmon Arm RCMP say officers found the man sitting on the sidewalk and found a replica 44 magnum airgun in his waistband.

While the man was released with no charge, police say the replica airgun was seized and destroyed. RCMP say replicas include airsoft, BB, pellet or toy guns designed to resemble real firearms.
