Prescribed burn in Clinton Community Forest expected to continue through April
CLINTON, B.C. — A prescribed burn within the Clinton Community Forest could begin as early as Tuesday (March 31).
The BC Wildfire Service says expanded control burning for the 59-hectare project north of the Village of Clinton will begin as early as Monday, April 6, and may continue periodically until April 17.
In a news release issued Tuesday, the wildfire service says the prescribed burn is in partnership with the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department, High Bar First Nation, Whispering Pines First Nation and Stswecem’c Xget’tem First Nation.
The wildfire service says ground ignitions will only proceed if atmospheric and weather conditions are safe. Smoke will be visible from Clinton, the surrounding area and along Highway 97.
