Officials cautiously reopen Trans Canada between Revelstoke and Golden

REVELSTOKE, B.C. — Provincial officials have reopened the Trans Canada Highway between Revelstoke and Golden – but say it could close again on very short notice.

The highway was closed mid-afternoon Tuesday (March 17), with officials saying the rapidly changing weather conditions had led to an urgent need for avalanche control measures.

At the time, officials warned the route would likely be closed until Thursday.

But at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, Drive BC announced the highway is back open on a temporary basis.

“Travellers are cautioned that the highway can close again on very short or no notice due to changing weather and avalanche conditions,” said the website.
