REVELSTOKE, B.C. — The Merritt Centennials have staved off elimination for the second time in three nights.

The Centennials beat the Revelstoke Grizzlies 4-2 Friday (March 13) night in game five of their Bill Ohlhausen Divisional semi-final series at the Revelstoke Forum. Merritt trails the best-of-seven series 3-2 with game six to be played at the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena this evening.

Merritt led 2-1 after the period though power play goals from Ryder McAslan and Callum MacLean at 3:08 and 17:54. The Grizzlies got on the board through Jett Patola, who also scored a power play goal at 16:08.

Merritt’s Noah Lawless and Revelstoke’s Jake Neufeld traded third period goals before Travis Langlois sealed the win with an empty netter in the dying seconds of the game.

Centennials netminder Tyler Picha picked up the win after he allowed one goal on 20 shots in 22:05 of action. Starting netminder Sam Saskiw allowed a goal on 28 shots in 37:55 of work before he was replaced.

Revelstoke’s Austin Seibel stopped 22 of 25 shots in a losing effort.

The Centennials need to win a third game in a row – at 7:00 p.m. this evening – if they are to extend the series to a game seven on Monday (March 16).

Tickets for game six go on sale at 10:00 a.m. this morning, and more information can be found here.
