KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP say no criminality is suspected in the collision that knocked out power for more than 1,000 BC Hydro customers Thursday (March 12).

BC Emergency Health Services (EHS) received the call about a motor vehicle incident at 155 Columbia St. at around 2:30 p.m. Thursday. A photo from the scene shows a Tesla next to a downed power pole, with lines draped over the damaged car.

Staff Sgt. Janelle Shoihet told CFJC Today both occupants of the Tesla were sent to hospital for assessment of what are believed to be serious but non-life threatening injuries. EHS confirmed the two patients were in serious-but-stable condition.

BC Hydro says power was restored to all customers at around 7:20 p.m. Thursday.
