Kamloops unemployment rate dips to 3.8 per cent in February
KAMLOOPS — Kamloops saw a 21.2 per cent decline in unemployment since the start of 2026, leading to a 3.8 per cent unemployment rate for February, according to the latest details from Statistics Canada’s Labour Force Survey.
StatsCan notes that Kamloops saw a 40.9 per cent decline in unemployment compared to February 2025.
In B.C. as a whole, the labour market shed 20,000 positions in February. Despite this, Stats Canada says the unemployment rate held steady at 6.1 per cent as the number of people searching for work remained steady.
The Canadian Press said the national drop of 84,000 job in February took economists by surprise.
