Two people died due to toxic drugs in Kamloops in January; province records 150 fatalities

KAMLOOPS — The province has begun the year by recording 150 deaths due to toxic drugs in January, including two in Kamloops.
The BC Coroners Service notes the provincial total equates to about 4.8 deaths per day.
B.C. ended 2025 with 1,833 deaths caused by the toxic drug crisis, the first year-end total under 2,000 since 2020.
Kamloops finished last year with 54 deaths due to overdose.
