UPDATE: Power restored after vehicle collision takes out power pole in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — (UPDATE 7:25 p.m.): BC Hydro says power has been restored to all customers following the earlier crash along Columbia.

According to the online outage list, power was restored to the remaining 1,029 customers at 7:21 p.m.

There is still no word if anyone was injured or what caused the collision.


EARLIER: More than 1,000 BC Hydro customers in the area of downtown Kamloops lost power Thursday afternoon (March 12) when a vehicle hit a power pole.

The collision took place around 2:20 p.m. along Columbia Street near First Avenue.

A photo from the scene shows a Tesla sedan next to a power pole laying on its side, with lines draped over the damaged car.

There is no word if anyone was injured or what caused the collision.

As of 3:00 p.m., BC Hydro said a crew had been assigned to the incident, which has knocked out power to 1,069 customers. There is no estimate for the time power may be restored.
