MERRITT, B.C. — A snowfall warning remains in effect for the Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt.

Environment Canada is forecasting another 20 to 30 centimetres of snowfall for that stretch of Highway 5 between Tuesday (March 10) night and Wednesday evening (March 11).

It’s due to an upper low that will bring another round of flurries for the mountain highway.

“These heavy flurries will taper off early Wednesday morning. There will be a bit of a break before the next round of heavy flurries begin later Wednesday afternoon and continue through Wednesday night,” Environment Canada said.

The weather agency says travel on the Coquihalla Highway will be challenging during the snowfall warning as visibility will likely be reduced at times.

Drivers are reminded that the weather in the mountains can change suddenly, resulting in hazardous driving conditions.

A snowfall warning was first issued for the Coquihalla between Hope and Merritt on Monday morning.
