Heat forward Shiva Singh named KIJHL rookie of the month for February

CHASE, B.C. — It’s another feather in the hat for Chase Heat forward Shiva Singh, as he was named the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League’s (KIJHL) rookie of the month for February.

Singh, 18, played a key role in the Heat’s late-season playoff push as Chase won five of eight games to become the final team to clinch a playoff berth.

The Surrey native scored seven goals and added six assists for 13 points in eight games last month, while averaging 21:22 of ice time.

He scored the winner in a 4-0 result over the Osoyoos Coyotes on Feb. 6, set up the goal that forced overtime in a shootout win against the Kelowna Chiefs on Feb. 7. He also assisted on the winning goal in a 3-2 victory over the Sicamous Eagles on Feb. 27.
