Panama pounces on miscues to beat Canada 4-3 at World Baseball Classic
SAN JUAN — Panama pounced on three Team Canada errors in the sixth inning, scoring three times en route to a 4-3 victory at the World Baseball Classic on Sunday at Hiram Bithorn Stadium.
Canada, which started play in Pool A on Saturday with an 8-2 win over Colombia, jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Abraham Toro doubled to drive in Otto Lopez, who led off the inning with a single to centre field.
Panama tied the game 1-1 in the fourth with an RBI single from Luis Castillo.
Canada restored its lead in the bottom half of the inning when Denzel Clarke’s single drove home Bo Naylor.
