Morrissey scores in OT as Jets slip past Canucks 3-2
WINNIPEG — Josh Morrissey scored 1:49 into overtime to become the highest-scoring defenceman in franchise history as the Winnipeg Jets defeated the Vancouver Canucks 3-2 in front of 14, 294 at Canada Life Centre on Saturday.
Morrissey’s game-winning goal gave him 417 career points, surpassing the retired Dustin Byfuglien for the franchise record. He had tied the mark earlier in the night with an assist on the game-tying goal.
Gabriel Vilardi and Mark Scheifele scored in regulation for the Jets, who extended their point streak to six games. Scheifele added a pair of assists for a three-point night.
Connor Hellebuyck made 21 saves to secure the victory for Winnipeg.
