Netflix has ordered Alexander, a drama series about Alexander The Great and Aristotle, from Heated Rivalry creator Jacob Tierney. The series adapts Annabel Lyon’s novel The Golden Mean and follows Aristotle tutoring young prince Alexander as the Athenian empire crumbles. “Amid palace intrigue, forbidden love, brutal war and ruthless ambitions, their unlikely friendship shapes an empire and alters the course of history,” according to the official description. Tierney will write, direct and executive produce alongside Jason Bateman and others. “I fell in love with Annabel Lyon’s book years ago and have been dreaming of telling this story ever since,” Tierney said. Netflix praised his “raw, modern energy” approach to the classic mentor-protégé story, calling it “epic and incredibly intimate.”
