Whundas senior boys basketball team wins first game at provincials

LANGLEY — The Westsyde Whundas senior boys basketball team is off to the quarter-finals of the 2A BC School Sports Provincial Championships. 

The No. 9 ranked Whundas won their first game of provincials by defeating the Charles Hays Rainmakers 77-54 Wednesday (March 4). Jaren Porter led the Whundas in scoring with 15 points. 

Next up for the Whundas is the No. 1 ranked Notre Dame Jugglers of Vancouver, who are coming off a 118-76 win over the Fernie Falcons. Tipoff is Thursday at 5:15 p.m. from the Langley Events Centre. 

The Whundas are trying to win their second provincial championship in five years. Westsyde fell in the semifinals in 2025.
