LANGLEY, B.C. — (UPDATE 12:30 p.m.): The Westsyde Whundas are off to the final four of the AA Senior Girls BC School Sports High School Basketball Provincial Championships.
The No. 13 Whundas knocked off No. 5 Pacific Christian of Victoria 78-69 in a quarter-final game Thursday (Feb. 26) night. That follows Westsyde’s 75-71 win over the No. 4 ranked Notre Dame Jugglers of Vancouver in the first round on Wednesday.
The path to a provincial championship doesn’t get easier for the Whundas as they’re set to take on the No. 1 ranked Holy Cross Crusaders from Surrey in the semifinals. Tip-off is at 5:15 p.m. Friday from the Langley Events Centre.
Meantime, the journey to a AAA provincial championship came to an end for two Kamloops teams, though they’re set to meet in the 5th/6th place game on Saturday.
