Woman killed in crash on Highway 97A south of Sicamous
SICAMOUS, B.C. — A 22-year-old woman from Salmon Arm was killed in a two-vehicle collision south of Sicamous Wednesday (Feb. 25).
Sicamous RCMP say officers responded to the 8800-block of Highway 97A near Hummingbird Resort at around 8:40 a.m. Wednesday, where a southbound Ford sedan lost control after navigating a curve in the roadway.
In a news release issued Thursday, RCMP say the sedan then crossed the centre line and struck a northbound semi-truck. Police say the driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene by an off-duty physician who had stopped at the scene to help.
No other injuries were reported from the collision. Police add that road conditions were slippery as heavy snow was falling.
