In a news release, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Staff Sgt. Janelle Shoihet says officers were called to a home in the 1800-block of Parkcrest Avenue just before 5:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Mounties were told a 27-year-old man was involved in a physical altercation with a family member. When a neighbour tried to intervene, the neighbour was stabbed.

“The suspect retreated to a trailer on the property and barricaded himself inside,” said Shoihet. “Following a short negotiation, the suspect surrendered to police and was taken into custody.”

Shoihet notes the suspect is in custody and is expected to face charges.

The victim, a 55-year-old man who is an acquaintance of the family involved, was treated in hospital. His injuries are serious but believed to be non-life-threatening.

Anyone with further information is asked to call Kamloops RCMP at (250) 828-3000 and refer to file number 2026-5751.
