‘One Battle After Another’ Dominates BAFTAs With Six Wins, ‘Sinners’ Makes History
Paul Thomas Anderson’s political thriller “One Battle After Another” claimed six BAFTA Film Awards Sunday night, including best film and best director. Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners” made history with three wins, becoming the most honored film by a Black filmmaker in BAFTA history. Coogler became the first Black winner of an original screenplay BAFTA. Robert Aramayo stunned audiences by winning both Rising Star and best actor for “I Swear,” with audible gasps greeting his upset victory in the competitive acting category. “One Battle After Another” also won adapted screenplay, cinematography, editing, and best supporting actor for Sean Penn. Jessie Buckley won best actress for “Hamnet,” which took Outstanding British Film. Wunmi Mosaku earned best supporting actress for “Sinners.
