RCMP major crime unit investigating targeted incident at Merritt home

MERRITT, B.C. — A heavy police presence was on hand at a home in Merritt Friday (Feb. 20).

Merritt RCMP S/Sgt. Josh Roda told Q101 Merritt there was an isolated incident, and frontline officers were called to 1990 Houston St.

“We believe it was targeted,” Roda says. “There is nothing to suggest that the public is in any danger.”

Reports on social media suggested gunshots were being heard at the time. However, Roda did not confirm those reports.
