KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP are renewing a request for help in identifying the driver involved in a hit-and-run in a Sahali parking lot two weeks ago.

The incident happened in the Columbia Place Shopping Centre on the evening of Friday, February 6.

At about 6:30 p.m., a light-coloured SUV was reported to have driven past a pair of pedestrians, nearly hitting them.

This caused one of the pedestrians to wave their hands in the air.

The SUV reportedly circled twice more, coming close to the pair again on the second pass and hitting one of them on the third. The man, Carston Turner, suffered serious injuries.

“Police are re-asking the public to go back and review any dash camera, or video footage in the area near the time of the incident,” said Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Dana Napier, who issued the renewed appeal Friday (Feb. 20). “We are asking anyone who may have been in the area and saw this or who may have video of the area during that time is asked to please contact police.”

Speaking to CFJC Today in the days after the incident took place, Turner said he suffered broken bones that required surgical repairs.

Anyone with information for RCMP is asked to call (250) 828-3000 and refer to file number 2026-3870. Tipsters can remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
