Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested Thursday morning on suspicion of misconduct in public office, marking the first arrest of a modern British royal. The 66-year-old former prince, stripped of his royal title in October due to Jeffrey Epstein connections, faces allegations of sharing confidential material with the late sex offender. Unmarked police vehicles arrived at his Norfolk residence on his birthday as authorities conducted searches in Berkshire and Norfolk. King Charles issued a statement saying: “Let me state clearly: the law must take its course.” The arrest follows recent release of over 3 million pages of Epstein documents by the DOJ, which included photos appearing to show Mountbatten-Windsor with Virginia Giuffre. She had alleged forced sexual encounters as a teenager, which he denied. The case reached settlement in 2022 without admission of liability.
