Raiya Matonovich of Kamloops impresses at 2026 GNAC Indoor Track and Field championships

KAMLOOPS – Kamloops product Raiya Matonovich showed out at the 2026 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field championships earlier this week.

The Sa-Hali Secondary grad recorded three first place finishes and was named Female Track Athlete of the Meet.

Matonovich finished first in the women’s 800m with a time of 2:09.40. She also earned a first-place finish in the women’s one mile event with a time of 4:54.77. Her Simon Fraser University (SFU) teammates also combined for a 12:20.15 time in the Women’s 4000m Distance Medley Relay.

Matonovich also helped her team finish second in the women’s 4x400m event with a time of 3:43.67. Western Washington finished in first place with a time of 3:42.98.

Matonovich is in her freshman season with the SFU Red Leafs, and she is preparing for the NCAA Div. II Indoor Track and Field Championships, March 13-14, in Virginia Beach.

She also has the World Athletics U20 Championships circled on her calendar in August.
