KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops has begun taking nominations for the 2026 Exemplary Service Awards, which aim to recognize volunteers who have gone above and beyond in their service to the community.

Nominations can be made in two categories – young adult for people under the age of 30 and adult for people over the age of 30. The deadline to nominate someone is 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 13, and recipients will be celebrated at a ceremony on April 22.

“Nominees should be individuals whose volunteer efforts have made a meaningful and lasting difference in Kamloops, the city said in a statement. “They must have lived in the community during the time of their service and demonstrated a sustained commitment to giving back.”

Kamloops staff and council members as well as organizations or groups, past Exemplary Service Award recipients, Freedom of the City recipients, and Centennial Medal recipients are not eligible. People also cannot be nominated by their family members “to ensure the awards remain a true celebration of community volunteers.”

“Exemplary Service Award recipients are people who show up, year after year, with generosity, care, and a genuine desire to help others,” the city added. “They are the mentors, organizers, advocates, and quiet leaders who strengthen Kamloops through their actions.”

“Whether supporting youth, responding in times of need, building inclusive programs, or bringing people together through events, sports, education, or essential services, these individuals lead by example. Their dedication leaves a lasting impact, inspiring connection, resilience, and pride throughout the community.”
