Lillooet couple ‘stunned’ after $2.5 million Lotto 6/49 win
LILLOOET, B.C. — The winners of a $2.5 million Lotto 6/49 jackpot have come forward and claimed their prize.
The BC Lottery Corporation (BCLC) says Rene L. and Brittany C. were “stunned” to learn they were multi-millionaires after a ticket they bought at the Pharmasave on Main Street in Lillooet matched all six numbers in the Jan. 31 draw.
The couple split the $5-million prize equally with the holders of another ticket in Quebec.
“My first thought was, ‘No!’ and then I jumped up and showed Brittany,” recalled Rene, in a statement via BCLC. “Brittany thought I was playing a trick on her and wanted to go to the store to check if it was real.”
