PRINCE GEORGE — The Thompson Rivers University (TRU) WolfPack basketball teams brought out the brooms to close out the 2025-26 Canada West regular season, as they won all four games against the UNBC Timberwolves this weekend.

Saturday (Feb. 7) night at Brownridge Court, the WofPack men edged the Timberwolves 78-76, to finish the season with a 12-8 record. TRU’s 12 wins are the third-most they’ve achieved in a Canada West campaign and their most since their silver medal winning 2015-16 season.

After UNBC took the lead with 37 seconds left on the clock, rookie Cason Scott, a Westsyde Secondary graduate, knocked in a three-pointer to restore TRU’s lead. He then swatted away Justin Sunga’s game-tying attempt with just seconds left to seal the win for the visitors.

Scott shot 7-11 from the floor and led the WolfPack with 17 points as well as seven rebounds and a pair of blocks. Jayden Green added 13 points and seven assists while Jaeden Bynoe added 11 points.

TRU finished fourth in the Canada West Pacific Division and they will play the 12-8 Calgary Dinos in a play-in game in Winnipeg on Friday (Feb. 13). The winner will move on to face the 16-4 Winnipeg Wesmen in a quarter-final game on Valentine’s Day Saturday.

It’s the second year in a row where the WolfPack men have qualified for the Canada West playoffs. They beat Alberta in a play-in game last year and were inches away from upsetting the Manitoba Bisons in the quarterfinals.

In women’s action, the WolfPack needed overtime to beat UNBC 65-57 after the two teams were tied at 53-53 in regulation. TRU dominated the extra frame en route to an 8-12 record.

Sydney Vollrath led the WolfPack with 13 points, while Kamloopsian Morgan Eichenberger made it seven double-doubles this season with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Olena Vasylenko also added nine points, eight rebounds and eight assists.

While they just missed out on Canada playoffs, this is the most wins in a season by the WolfPack women since 2017-18.

They’ll look to build on that next season as the WolfPack graduated no players and had just who were in their third year of eligibility.
