Blazers drop second game in Victoria 4-1

Feb 5, 2026 | 7:09 AM

VICTORIA — The Kamloops Blazers won in aggregate over their two games on Vancouver Island, although they’re still taking the ferry back to the mainland with two points.

One day after an 11-1 blowout win, the Blazers fell to the Victoria Royals 4-1 in a rematch on Wednesday (Feb. 4).

The Blazers surrendered two goals in the first period at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Arena to fall behind 2-0.

Ty Coupland, who scored his first two goals as a Blazer the night prior, continued to have a hot stick on Vancouver Island. The 18-year-old forward fired a wrist shot blocker side from the right circle to make it a 2-1 game after the first.

However, that would be as close as the Blazers would come. The Royals restored their two-goal lead early in the second period and added an empty net goal late in the third to secure the 4-1 win. Kamloops only managed 20 shots on goals.

The Blazers fall to 24-16-6-4 on the 2025-26 Western Hockey League (WHL) season, good for 58 points in 50 games. They sit third in the B.C. Division and fourth in the WHL Western Conference, nine points ahead of ninth-place Spokane in the playoff picture with 18 games remaining in their regular season schedule.

The Blazers continue their five-game road trip. They travel to Washington State Friday (Feb. 6) to take on the Everett Silvertips for a 7:05 p.m. puck drop.
