KAMLOOPS — It was smooth sailing for the Kamloops Blazers during their first stop of a five-game road trip.

After surrendering the first goal of Tuesday’s (Feb. 3) game against the Victoria Royals shorthanded, the Blazers scored 11 unanswered goals en route to an 11-1 win.

The Blazers’ 11-goal tally surpassed the previous season-high mark of nine goals against the Calgary Hitmen on Dec. 27. It’s also the first time the Blazers have scored double digit goals in a game since their 10-2 win over the Peterborough Petes on May 28, 2023, during the Memorial Cup in Kamloops.

Kamloops local Jordan Keller scored four goals and added an assist, while forward Nathan Behm matched his teammate in total points with five assists.

JP Hurlbert scored two goals and an assist to extend his lead in Western Hockey League (WHL) points this season to 79. Forward Ty Coupland also scored his first two goals as a Blazer since arriving from Red Deer ahead of the 2026 WHL Trade Deadline.

The Blazers improve to 24-15-6-4 on the 2025-26 WHL season, good for 58 points in 49 games. They’re third in the B.C. Division and fourth in the Western Conference, sitting 11 points ahead of ninth-place Spokane in the playoff picture.

The Blazers and Royals play a rematch Wednesday (Feb. 4) in Victoria. Puck drop is at 7:05 p.m.
