National Film Registry Adds ‘Clueless,’ ‘The Karate Kid,’ ‘Glory’ Among 25 New Selections
The Library Of Congress announced Thursday that 25 films have been inducted into the National Film Registry for 2025, including “Clueless,” “The Karate Kid,” “Glory,” “The Big Chill,” and “The Grand Budapest Hotel.” The selections, chosen for their cultural, historical, or aesthetic significance, also feature “High Society,” “Philadelphia,” “The Incredibles,” “White Christmas,” “Before Sunrise,” “The Truman Show,” “Frida,” “The Hours,” and “Inception.” “The Thing” topped public nominations among 7,559 submitted titles. Six silent films from 1896-1926 and four documentaries including Ken Burns’ “Brooklyn Bridge” round out the class. Acting Librarian Robert Newlen stated the films “capture important parts of our nation’s story.” The registry now contains 925 films since selections began in 1989. TCM will screen several inductees starting March 19th. Story URL
