Fire that ripped through Victoria Street storefront deemed arson: Kamloops RCMP

Jan 27, 2026 | 1:43 PM

KAMLOOPS — RCMP say a fire that gutted a vacant downtown Kamloops business earlier this month was deliberately set.

The fire tore through the former Fashion 5 storefront in the 400-block of Victoria Street late in the evening on January 14. Firefighters kept the flames from spreading to neighbouring buildings.

In an update distributed to media Tuesday (Jan. 27), Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Dana Napier says investigators have deemed the incident suspicious.

“The Kamloops RCMP Detachment General Investigation Support Team is investigating the fire along with investigators from Kamloops Fire Rescue,” said Napier. “Investigators are looking specifically for video of the area between 10:00 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. on January 14, 2026, both in the front and back of the building, additionally if anyone has footage of the fire itself.”

Anyone who has further information or relevant video is asked to call Kamloops RCMP at (250) 828-3000 and refer to file number 2026-1404. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
