KAMLOOPS — The Thompson Rivers University (TRU) WolfPack women’s basketball team now has a smaller margin for error to make the 2026 Canada West playoffs.

The WolfPack were blown out by the Trinity Western University Spartans in Langley Thursday (Jan. 22) night 68-26. Second-year forward and Kamloops local Morgan Eichenberger led the WolfPack in scoring with 11 points on five-for-seven shooting while adding six rebounds.

With three games left in the 2025-26 regular season, the WolfPack sit sixth in the Pacific Division with a record of 6-11. They trail the 8-8 UBC Okanagan Heat and University of Victoria Vikes for the final two playoff spots.

On the men’s side, the WolfPack lost to the Spartans 80-70. Third-year guard Jayden Stephen led TRU in scoring with 14 points on four-for-16 shooting while adding seven rebounds and an assist.

Three-point shots were the difference in the game. The Spartans went 14-for-27 from downtown while the WolfPack shot nine-for-31.

The WolfPack men’s team have clinched a playoff berth but they have fallen to fourth in the Pacific Division standings with a 10-7 record, trailing the 9-6 University of the Fraser Valley Cascades on win percentage.

The WolfPack remain on the road this weekend. They’re on Vancouver Island Saturday (Jan. 24) to take on the University of Victoria Vikes. The women tip-off at 5:00 p.m. while the men follow at 7:00 p.m.
