‘Sinners’ sets Oscars record with 16 nominations
Sinners, a vampire film set in the American South, broke Oscar records Thursday with 16 nominations, surpassing the previous high of 14 held by All About Eve, Titanic and La La Land. Paul Thomas Anderson’s radical politics thriller One Battle After Another earned 13 nominations. Both compete for best picture alongside Frankenstein, Bugonia, Hamnet, Marty Supreme, Sentimental Value, Train Dreams, F1 and The Secret Agent. Sinners star Michael B. Jordan got a Best Actor nod for playing twin brothers, while his co-star Wunmi Mosaku was nominated for Best Supporting Actress. Leonardo DiCaprio, Teyana Taylor, Benicio del Toro and Sean Penn were all got nods for One Battle After Another. Timothée Chalamet earned his third Best Actor nomination for Marty Supreme, becoming the youngest actor (at 30) to achieve this milestone. The ceremony airs March 15th with Conan O’Brien hosting.
