Overnight southbound travel on Coquihalla south of Merritt blocked as crews repair flood-damaged areas

MERRITT, B.C. — Southbound traffic on the Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt will be closed overnight.
DriveBC says paving work will be taking place on the stretch of Highway 5 from 10:00 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 22) until 4:00 a.m. Friday (Jan. 23).
B.C.’s Ministry of Transportation and Transit says it’s part of a series of temporary closures to carry out emergency repair work on sections of highways near Hope that was damaged by flooding in December 2025.
