Kamloops ranked top small Canadian city for filmmakers to live and work
KAMLOOPS — A magazine focused on filmmaking is giving flowers to the film scene in Kamloops and area.
In its annual “Best Places to Live and Work as a Moviemaker” list for 2026, MovieMaker ranks Kamloops as the best smaller city in Canada and fourth-best in North America.
In the list published on Jan. 15, MovieMaker credits Kamloops for its natural scenery such as deserts, forests, mountaintops and waterfalls, along with the Thompson-Nicola Film Commission’s (TNFC) work on guiding filmmakers how to access tax incentives of up to 58.5 per cent. It adds that the TNFC has more than 3,000 film-friendly locations in its database.
