Warner Bros. Taps Jorge R. Gutiérrez To Direct Animated Speedy Gonzales Movie

Warner Bros. has chosen Jorge R. Gutiérrez to helm an animated film featuring classic Looney Tunes character Speedy Gonzales, Plot details and writers remain unannounced. Gutiérrez teased the project on social media last month, posting a photo with a Speedy figurine while wearing similar attire to the cartoon mouse. The Mexico City-born filmmaker created Emmy-winning series El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera and Maya and the Three, along with directing The Book of Life. Warner Bros. previously developed a Speedy movie over a decade ago with Eugenio Derbez attached. Gabriel Iglesias voiced Speedy in 2021’s Space Jam: A New Legacy.
