KAMLOOPS — The TRU WolfPack basketball teams wrapped up their 2025-26 Canada West home schedule with defeat to the UBC Thunderbirds Saturday (Jan. 17) night at the Tournament Capital Centre.

The WolfPack men were unable to overcome a strong third quarter from the Thunderbirds, as they lost 85-72. That has them at 10-6 and in third place in the Canada West Pacific Division, while UBC sits second with a 12-2 record.

Jayden Stephens led the way for the WolfPack with 23 point and 10 rebound double-double, while Steve Stinson added 17 points and five steals. Thomas Olsen also finished with 10 points in the final regular season home game of his TRU career.

Olsen and Gavin Reis have been with the WolfPack since the 2021-2022 Canada West season, and they’re both playing their fifth and final season in orange and black.

The WolfPack women dropped a 72-66 decision to the Thunderbirds to sit 6-10 in the standings. They’re just outside a Canada West playoff position with four games left to play.

Kylee Koppes (17 points, four rebounds, five assists) and Olena Vasylenko (16 points, two rebounds and five assists) led the way for TRU. Kamloopsian Morgan Eichenberger chipped in with 15 points and seven rebounds.

Saturday was the WolfPack’s annual Shoot for the Cure game as they joined other women’s basketball teams to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society. Donations can be made online here.

The WolfPack teams head to Langley and Victoria for their next two games. They’ll face the Trinity Western Spartans on Thursday (Jan. 22) and the Victoria Vikes on Saturday (Jan. 24).
