KAMLOOPS — Police say a 52-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a pair of reported incidents of unwanted physical contact with women in Peterson Creek Park.

Kamloops RCMP say they received reports on Jan. 3 and again this Tuesday (Jan. 13) that a man allegedly approached women on a trail in the park and attempted to engage in conversation with them. They say the man then initiated “unsolicited physical contact” though no injuries were reported.

RCMP say they identified and arrested the man on Thursday (Jan. 15). He was released on an undertaking with conditions such as restrictions related to contacting the complainants and attending “specific public areas.”

In a news release, RCMP say the investigation is ongoing and police are preparing to submit a full report to Crown counsel for consideration. The man’s name was not provided by police.

“Police encourage members of the public to stay aware of their surroundings and to trust their instincts in everyday situations,” RCMP added Friday. “Anyone who experiences or witnesses behaviour that feels concerning or out of the ordinary is encouraged to contact police. Reporting these incidents helps support ongoing efforts to maintain community safety.”

People who may have had similar interactions or who may have witnessed the incidents in Peterson Creek Park are asked to contact Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2026‑1368 or 2026‑779.
