Mild weather prompts ski area closure at Harper Mountain; tube park remains open

KAMLOOPS — The mild weather is once again playing havoc with a local ski area.

In a post to social media, management at Harper Mountain near Kamloops says skiing is on pause until more snow falls.

The post notes Harper intends to open the tube park this upcoming weekend if conditions permit.

The recreation area delayed its ski opening this winter due to mild weather, but eventually opened for the last weekend of 2025.

Harper asks residents to ‘stay tuned’ for updates on when the ski area will reopen.

Also in the Kamloops area, the Overlander Ski Club has has to cancel this Sunday’s (Jan. 18) Teck Okanagan Cup #2 race because of “challenging weather conditions.”

“With no snow and above freezing temperatures in the forecast, safe and fun racing conditions couldn’t be guaranteed,” the club said in a statement.
