KAMLOOPS — The WHL trade deadline passed at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday (Jan. 8) and the Kamloops Blazers bolstered their forward corps with the acquisition of Ty Coupland from Red Deer.
Blazers’ general manager Shaun Clouston joined CFJC Today’s Marty Hastings to recap the deadline and offer insight on the club’s decisions.
On Wednesday, the Blazers traded defenceman Kayd Ruedig to the Everett Silvertips in exchange for two draft picks in 2028, including a first-round pick. They also released defenceman Evan Markel from the active roster.
Both those moves came after defenceman Harrison Brunicke was assigned to the Blazers from the Pittsburgh Penguins. The 19-year-old Brunicke spoke to CFJC during practice on Thursday afternoon.
