MERRITT, B.C. — A man charged with killing his wife in Merritt last month was due back in court Tuesday (Jan. 6).

Christopher Jarvis, 49, is facing a single count of second-degree murder in the death of Pamela Jarvis, 45.

Merritt RCMP were called to a home in the city on December 16, finding Pamela Jarvis suffering from serious injuries. The mother of six was rushed to Nicola Valley Hospital but could not be saved.

Christopher Jarvis was arrested and charged a short time later and remains in custody.

His case was scheduled in Merritt provincial court Tuesday, with a follow-up now scheduled for two weeks later (Jan. 20).

In addition to the criminal charge against Christopher Jarvis, B.C.’s Independent Investigations Office is investigating whether actions or inaction of Merritt RCMP played a part in the woman’s death.

An online fundraiser has been set up to benefit her six children and a public memorial service for Pamela Jarvis is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Friday (Jan. 9) at the Merritt Civic Centre.
