UPDATE: Woman seriously injured after being hit by vehicle at Lower Sahali intersection

UPDATE (12:30 p.m.): Kamloops RCMP say a woman who was hit by a vehicle while crossing the street at the intersection of Summit Drive and Columbia Street remains in hospital with serious injuries.

RCMP say they were called to the busy Lower Sahali intersection around 10:40 p.m. Sunday (Jan. 4) night. Cpl. Dana Napier says the driver stayed on scene and cooperated with police.

“The alleged driver was arrested and later released,” Napier said in a statement. “Police are looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who has video footage of the incident.”

In a statement to CFJC Today, BC Emergency Health Services (BC EHS) spokesperson Brian Twaites said two ambulances – one with primary care paramedics and one with advanced care paramedics – and a paramedic supervisor responded to the scene.
