Brier-bound Kamloops trio wins men’s B.C. curling title; Brown foursome falls in women’s final
ESQUIMALT, B.C. — (UPDATE 8:00 p.m.): Jared Kolomaya, Mitchell Kopytko, and Coburn Fadden of the Kamloops Curling Club (KCC) have qualified to compete at the 2026 Brier, which is scheduled to run from Feb. 27 to March 8 in St. John’s, Nfld.
Third Kolomaya (who curled at the 2022 Brier), second Kopytko and lead Fadden belong to Team Tanaka, the Richmond-based rink skipped by Cody Tanaka that knocked off Team Montgomery of Victoria 6-5 in the men’s B.C. Curling Championship final on Sunday (Jan. 4) in Esquimalt.
Trialing 3-2 after seven ends at the Archie Browning Arena, Team Tanaka earned the right to represent B.C. at the Brier after they scored two in the eighth end and a last rock double in the tenth, while Montgomery only managed a double in the ninth.
