Three people taken to hospital after head-on crash near Clearwater
BLACKPOOL, B.C. — Blackpool Fire Rescue says three people were taken to hospital after a head-on crash on Highway 5 about four kilometres south of Clearwater early Sunday (Dec. 28) morning.
While details remain limited, they note the crash was reported just before 12:30 a.m. Sunday, and that temperatures were -18 C at the time.
Blackpool Fire Rescue says people had to be extricated from both vehicles with the jaws of life, though the extent of the injuries suffered by each of the three people is not known at this time.
“The highway was closed in both directions for about an hour until the ambulances could load patients and depart the scene safely,” a statement from Blackpool Fire Rescue said. “Two Blackpool rescue units, four ambulances and an RCMP unit were on scene.”
